Welcome, I’m Harper the creator of Modern Homemaking.
This space was born from a simple wish: to find calm and purpose in the rhythm of everyday life.
In the busyness of modern living with working, running a home, and raising children, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. I found a pocket of peace in the chaos by reframing homemaking into something meaningful, something to feel a quiet sense of achievement from.
Here, I share wholesome food, homemade essentials, and gentle ways to create a home that feels both beautiful and lived in.
My story

For a long time, I felt like I was chasing life and trying to keep up with work, family, and the endless lists that fill our days. I was getting things done, but never feeling truly present or on top of anything.
It took me a while to realise that the pace wasn’t the problem, it was my perspective.
I had been treating the acts of running a home as chores to push through, rather than small rituals that could bring calm and rhythm to daily life.
Once I began to slow down, plan ahead, and find satisfaction in the preparation, something shifted.
Sunday mornings became gentle reset days.
Routines became steadier. And the feeling of chaos softened into something almost peaceful. That’s when I began to see homemaking differently and not as outdated or domestic work, but as a quiet, creative way to care for both home and self.
